TV News Report on New Library: ‘Shaping the Future, Honoring the Past’

Students and their families returning to campus aren’t the only ones excited about the new Independence Hall library at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas,.

The new library is “Shaping America’s future while honoring its past,” according to Kansas City’s leading news station.

Scott Kilbury, a Kansas City, Mo., anchor and reporter for Fox 4, reported on Moritz Library in D’Aniello Hall which opens this semester.

His report for the popular Kansas City station begins by focusing on the Liberty Bell.

“We wanted to create a place that does two things for us, demonstrate our commitment academic excellence, and build a celebration of America,” Benedictine President Stephen D. Minnis told the news station.

“We’ve done extensive research to match what’s in independence and create something that’s truly accurate to history,” she told the station.

Kilbury interviewed senior Isaiah Ballard from Norton, Ohio, who said “It looks really nice. Walking through the front door you have the amazing pillars. It’s beautiful. They put a lot into this.”

“Building this library on the top of the hill so everyone can see really tells the world that we care about academic excellence,” President Minnis sums up at the end of the video.
