About this Series

reck•on•ing (n): a time when the consequences of a course of mistakes or misdeeds are felt.

We all feel it. Our economic structures are off course and have been for a while.

Is the American experiment of free enterprise and liberty over? Is the drift into socialism inevitable?

Our new course, “The Reckoning: Business and the Battle for Freedom” will guide you through the minds and writings of classical and modern economics, moral philosophy, progressive management, and leadership experts to consider how we arrived at this moment and how we can save the best of free enterprise.

Join David Geenens, Associate Professor and Director of the Byron G. Thompson Center for Integrity in Finance and Economics at Benedictine College to discover what the Catholic Church teaches as the best means of re-vitalizing our economic and business culture.

In “The Reckoning: Business and the Battle for Freedom,” you’ll learn:

  • Why preserving free enterprise is key to preserving freedom in America
  • What business leaders can do to lead their teams in virtue
  • The best way to understand the genius and folly of Adam Smith

  • 13 Tenets of a Transcendent Business

The answer to this dilemma is the infusion of social justice and the sentiment of Christian love into the socio-economic order. — Pope Pius XI, Divini Redemptoris
