Unprecedented Moot Court Victories
In just three years since its formation, Benedictine College’s Moot Court program has earned unprecedented victories across the nation.
With more teams qualifying for the national tournament than ever before, more teams advancing to the round of 16 than ever before, and a team qualifying for an alternative position in the national final for the first time in program history, the Moot Court program has seen exciting growth and success in the 2024-2025 season.
In addition, one senior Constitutional Fellow, Jeffrey Schremmer, won a Top Orator award at a national tournament, a first for a Benedictine College student. Schremmer, a Politics and Government major from Pittsburg, Kansas, has a positive outlook on the future and growth of the Moot Court program at Benedictine.

“It was a great honor to receive a Top Orator Award at the National Moot Court Tournament in Albuquerque,” said Schremmer. “This achievement was only made possible through the help of my great teammates and our coach, Dr. Kevin Vance, all of whom put many hours of work into preparing for the competition. I hope that the recent successes of the Moot Court Team will carry on into future years, as our program becomes more robust and competitive.”
These successes are no easy feat— Moot court teams research and argue a mock appellate case, writing appellate briefs and presenting oral arguments in front of judges in the legal profession. To add to this, the side of the issue they argue is randomly assigned on the day of the competition.
Benedictine College’s Moot Court program provides Constitutional Fellows interested in careers in law, public policy/government, journalism, or academia the critical thinking, speaking and debating skills necessary for success in these fields.
The Center for Constitutional Liberty recognizes that a key aspect of transforming the culture necessitates providing formation and career preparation for young adults of high moral character, preparing them to assume positions of power in public service and the legal profession.
