Gloria Purvis to Speak at Benedictine College October 6

Gloria PurvisBenedictine College is pleased to welcome Gloria Purvis, one of top speakers in the country on race and life issues, to the college campus. She will offer her presentation, “Racism is a Pro-Life Issue,” at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, in O’Malley-McAllister Auditorium on the Atchison campus. There is a strict mask requirement for those wishing to attend. For those who are unable to wear a mask, the presentation will be streamed live on the Benedictine College Facebook page. Her talk, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the Benedictine College Black Student Union, Atchison United, Inc., the Knights of Peter Claver, and the Gregorian Fellows of Benedictine College.

Purvis is a well-known author, commentator and the host of “The Gloria Purvis Podcast.” She has been a strong advocate for life issues, racial justice and religious liberty. She has appeared in various media outlets including The New York TimesThe Washington Post, PBS Newshour, EWTN News Nightly, and Catholic Answers Live and previously hosted “Morning Glory,” an international radio show.

She has been a noted pro-life advocate for some time, but in 2020, became one of the prominent Catholic voices speaking out against racism. Purvis views the pro-life movement and the racial justice movement as interconnected because “at the core, they are about respecting the dignity of human life,” she said in an April 2021 interview in Flyer News.
