Don’t Forget To Pray These 5 Brief Fatima Prayers
Between May 13 and October 13 in 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal: Lucia Dos Santos, and siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto. She gave them an urgent message for the whole world. She appeared five times in total, always on the 13th of the month.
She called herself “Our Lady of the Rosary,” one of the many nicknames of Mary, and urged the children to pray the rosary each day with the intentions of peace and the conversion of sinners.
Importantly, the children learned five prayers that helped guide them as they prayed and sacrificed for the conversion of sinners.
On October 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fatima confirmed all of these miracles with a great miracle, the Miracle of the Sun, which is helping convert people to this day.
It is recommended that Catholics memorize and pray these prayers regularly and practice penance and offer sacrifices in reparation for the many sins committed against God.
Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, is consecrated to Our Lady and in 2017 celebrated the year of Fatima with yearlong devotions to Our Lady.
In all, the events produced five prayers the children learned.
Prayers 1 and 2
The apparitions of Our Lady were preceded by the children seeing an angel — the Angel of Portugal.
The angel taught the children the first two prayers:
The Pardon Prayer
My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love Thee! I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee.
Later, the angel worshiped the body, blood, soul and Divinity of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament — a host and chalice — and taught the children this prayer:
The Angel’s Prayer
Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly.
I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,
present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences whereby He is offended.
And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.
Prayer 3
The first time the children saw Our Lady of Fatima, Lucia said they found themselves “moved by an interior impulse” to pray together:
The Eucharistic Prayer
Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love thee in the most Blessed Sacrament.
Prayer 4
The children learned mortification from Our Lady, who cried “Penance! Penance! Penance!” They saw the souls that reject God and suffer his absence in hell. They began to offer up personal sacrifices to God with a prayer they learned from Our Lady.
The Sacrifice Prayer
Oh My Jesus, I offer this for love of thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Prayer 5
Finally, Our Lady of Fatima told the shepherd children to pray the rosary daily for sinners and peace in the world. Specifically, she told them to pray a particular prayer at the end of each decade of the rosary.
The Rosary Decade Prayer
Oh my Jesus, forgive us. Save us from the fire of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need.
