2022 Summer Campus Updates

There has been a LOT going on over the summer, and some of it will continue into the fall and winter. There are hundreds of small jobs underway like painting, carpeting, etc., but here are some of the larger projects you might find interesting.

The Mailroom has Moved
The mailroom, now called Rocky’s Package Pickup, has been moved to 1301 N 3rd St., directly behind Cray Seaberg Hall. All package receiving and processing (Fed Ex, UPS, DHL) will take place here. This will be especially important at the beginning of the semester with so many books and other packages being delivered. There is plenty of parking on the street, on the north side and behind the building. The address is to identify the physical location for package pick-up…it is NOT the mailing address to use for the college.

  • Rocky’s Copies remains on the ground floor of the College Library for copy and print services and for United States Postal Service mail, both incoming and outgoing. You can pay for the postage meter at Rocky’s Copies or purchase stamps in The Raven Store.
  • The College Mailing Address remains 1020 N. 2nd St., Atchison, KS, 66002, for all mail and packages.
  • To send mail to a student:

Bishop Fink Hall gets an Elevator
Yes, it is true. After 150 years, Bishop Fink Hall will have an elevator and a new stair tower on the south end of the building. New handicap-accessible restrooms are also being added on each floor on the south end. This project will be completed during the fall semester and will make the entire facility ADA compliant.

A New Residence Hall Rises
St. Gabriel Hall, a new men’s residence hall on 2nd St. north of St. Michael Hall, is rising as construction is well underway. The 122-bed facility is scheduled to open for the spring 2023 semester.

Ground is Broken for New Row Houses
Two new Row Houses, housing 12 students each, will be built up 2nd Street, north of the existing Row Houses. These residential facilities are scheduled to be completed during summer 2023 and will house students for the fall 2023 semester.

Nolan Gym Floor is a Stunner
Be sure to check out the new playing surface in the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. The floor was refinished and painted with the silhouette of the campus buildings.

McDonald Hall Laundry Room gets an Update
The McDonald Hall laundry room is being completely remodeled and updated. In addition, the rest of the suites are being replumbed and getting new vanities and medicine cabinets.

Phase 2 Remodeling Completed in McDonald Hall and Legacy Apartments
The second phase of the remodeling project in McDonald Hall and Legacy Apartments was completed, with new bathrooms in the other half of McDonald Hall and new living rooms in the other half of the Apartments. Phase 1 covered the first half of these projects last summer.

Band Room Updates
The Band Room in the St. John Paul II Student Center is being updated to include lockers. It is also getting new paint, carpet and lighting.

Ex Corde Center for Catholic Media gets a Home
After utilizing several locations around campus over the past year, the Ex Corde Center for Catholic Media has found a home. The Heritage Room on the south end of Elizabeth Hall is being remodeled to serve as a studio and offices as part of the Extension Priority of the Transforming Culture in America Strategic Plan.

Ferrell Refresh
The Ferrell Academic Center received fresh paint in hallways and classrooms, new carpeting in the corridors and other updates. This was part of the 10-year upgrade plan.

Other Updates
In addition to the notable additions and updates mentioned above, there are many other smaller projects underway. Memorial Hall and Turner Hall are getting new bathroom partitions; Lemke Hall and Legacy Hall are getting new flooring, paint and some appliances; the Amino Center weight room is being remodeled; the Campus Drive has been repaved and sealed; and the Library Parking Lot has been sealed and re-striped.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus in a few weeks as we are closing in on our traditional Move-In Days.
