WATCH: The Dead Need Your Prayers

“Eternal rest grant unto them … and let perpetual light shine upon them.”

Starting with All Souls Day, the entire month of November is dedicated to prayer for souls. Abbot James Albers, OSB, urged Benedictine College students and friends of the Abbey to pray for deceased monks, loved ones — and those in Purgatory who have no one to pray from them.

The monks at the Abbey, along with the Benedictine Sisters at Mount St. Scholastica, are what make Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, Benedictine.

Abbot James is the ninth abbot of St. Benedict’s Abbey, serving in this role since December 2012.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of Benedictine College, which he attended as a fourth-generation legacy student, graduating in the spring of 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and theology.
