Catholic Identity Starts in High School
Minnis called these schools “partners in the Catholic identity project.”
Benedictine College president Stephen D. Minnis congratulates 50 high schools recognized today for their Catholic identity.
The Honor Roll, which has recognized Catholic identity in high schools since 2004, is a kind of companion to The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College. The Catholic High School Honor Roll competition’s results for 2012-2013 were released Sept. 20, by the Cardinal Newman Society.
“To build up leaders who are unabashed in their Catholic identity, colleges are crucial, and great high schools provide irreplaceable preparation,” said Minnis. He is a member of the National Collegiate Advisory Board of the Catholic High School Honor Roll.
The top 50 schools are recognized for overall excellence. Others receive honors for special recognition in particular categories.
“The Honor Roll schools are a reminder that Catholic education is getting better every day — not only academically, but in the renewal of Catholic identity,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society.

“Benedictine College sends special congratulations to these schools,” said Minnis. “We consider them partners in our efforts to build up the Church in America far into the future.”
